The shaman has played a critical role in Korean society as a mediator between the realm of the spirit and the realm of humans for thousands of years. But today Korean society is evolving quickly and the shaman is no exception. In this seminar, we speak with experts, and with shamans, about what exactly a modern-day shaman does, and what the prospects are for the future of shamanism. What pressures are shamans subject to in Korean society and what are the expectations held by those who seek them out?
